The Danish violinist Christine Bernsted (born 1994) has distinguished herself as a major prize winner in numerous international violin competitions, including  1st prizes in competitions which led to her debut at the Berliner Philharmonie’s Kammermusiksaal, followed by recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Danish violinist Christine Bernsted (born 1994) has distinguished herself as a major prize winner in numerous international violin competitions, including  1st prizes in competitions which led to her debut at the Berliner Philharmonie’s Kammermusiksaal, followed by recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and at the Royal Albert Hall. 

In addition, Christine won 1st prize at the inaugural 2018 Melbourne International Violin Competition in Australia, in 2019 she was awarded 1st prize by the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and in 2020 she won 2nd prize at The Danish String Competition. Christine has also received prestigious awards and scholarships such as the Leonié Sonning Talent Prize 2019, Bente Calberg's Legacy, and the Carl Nielsen & Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Talent Prize in 2019. In 2020, she performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto as a soloist with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra; the concert was broadcast by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation’s classical radio station P2. 

Christine obtained her bachelor’s degree at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen where she studied under Professor Tim Frederiksen. She went on to complete her master’s degree under her mentor Professor Eszter Haffner, where she continued her studies in the Viennese violin tradition with its intense focus on timbre, sound quality, richness of colours and strong stylistic sense. During her master’s programme, she also conducted extensive studies in Vienna with Gerhard Schulz and Boris Kuschnir. Christine is currently studying for her Advanced Postgraduate Diploma with Professor Eszter Haffner and Nikolaj Znaider at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. 

Christine has performed solo recitals and chamber music recitals at prominent music festivals in Denmark such as the Copenhagen Summer Festival and Bornholm’s Music Festival, and in venues such as the Tivoli Concert Hall, DR Koncerthuset, Musikhuset Århus, Glyptoteket and the David Collection in Copenhagen. She has also performed in Austria, Italy, Norway and USA. 

Christine is a Larsen Strings Artist and plays on an Auguste Sébastien Philippe Bernardel violin from 1836, which was gifted to her by a private Danish foundation.
